What should I wear for my sister's wedding?

My sister is getting married soon, and I chose to not be in the wedding party because I don't have the money (or the time). I want to look cute and buy a nice dress with nice accessories. However, I feel that if I dress too nicely that I might upstage the bride (or the bridesmaids). What should I wear? What kind of patterns, colors, and cut would be appropriate?

I love going to J Crew for dresses because they have such a wide variety of styles, colors, and patterns. (Hahaa. I kind of sound like I'm advertising J Crew.)

I would just add maybe a feel simple gold bracelets but not much more than that. Any bold jewelry or accessory will take away attention from the dress.
