What should I do with the car with damaged piston rings and low compression?

Just got my 2002 Saturn SL1 checked because the service engine light was on. They did a compression test on it and the result was #1: 190, #2:190, #3:140 (wet 170), #4: 120 (wet 150), and so they said the rings might be damaged and the option for me now is to A: rebuild the engine, B: get a new engine or an used one, and C: trade-in to a dealer. They recommended C since they didn't think it would worth the money to work on it. But I just bought this car two months ago!
So just want to ask before I do anything with it,
how much would it cost to fix the piston ring problem?
And also, how much money would I expect to get if I trade in it with a dealer? Kbb says about $2000 for a fair condition, but I don't know if a car has engine damage can be called in "fair condition", although it looks good and so far has no problem on the road. Any one had experience before?

if the rest of the car is in good shape then it would be a lot cheaper just to get a low mileage engine.
